Alexandria and a Long History of Mosaics
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organizes a lecture entitled “Alexandria and a Long History of Mosaics”, delivered by Dr. Iman Mohsen Shahawy, Head of Antiquities Affairs at the Mosaic Center, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The lecture tackles the art of mosaic, especially during the Hellenistic period, and the unique position of Alexandria with regard to this ancient art. It also highlights different samples of mosaic artefacts, which were discovered in Alexandria, Jerash, Libya, and throughout the Mediterranean.

The Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum is reopening

The Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum will be open to the public starting from October 19, 2021 for viewing of the permanent galleries on the life and times of Herbert Hoover and the temporary exhibit gallery, Leonardo da Vinci Machines in Motion.

The Research Room, the Museum Gift Shop and Public and Educational Programs remain closed at this time.

«Saints of the Undivided Church»: Exhibition of Contemporary Icon Painting

On August 5, the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg opened a unique exhibition of contemporary Christian art «Saints of the Undivided Church», which presents icons, mosaics and miniatures dedicated to Western saints of the 2nd-11th centuries revered by both Orthodox and Catholics.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library in Staunton is doing something new. It is an exhibit, not about century-old history, but instead, it is about modern-day experiences, and the history being made right now by people in the Shenandoah Valley.

Woodrow Wilson's 105-year-old flag a nod to his advocacy for Flag Day, celebrated in Staunton

Congress didn't approve Flag Day as a holiday until 1949, but Woodrow Wilson was the first president to propose the idea of Flag Day in 1916 as a nationally recognized holiday. He didn't come up with it on his own, though.

With the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, cochlear implantation operations for people with hearing impairments have once again been performed

With the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, operations were performed on a group of people with hearing impairments within the framework of the Cochlear Implantation Program. These individuals with congenital and acquired hearing impairments are mostly children of various age groups.
