On August 28, as part of the events dedicated to the International Day against Nuclear Tests, leading researcher of the Library of Elbassy, candidate of historical sciences Sagintay Berdagulova held a webinar "Nursultan Nazarbayev is the recognized leader of the global anti-nuclear movement" for teachers of the capital's colleges.
Participants of the webinar got acquainted with the global approach of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its First President to ensuring universal security based on the renunciation of nuclear weapons and nuclear testing.
- The closure of one of the largest nuclear test sites on earth in the city of Semey by the First President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev was the first legal ban on nuclear testing in human history. After that the polygon in Nevada, Lob Nor in China, other polygons in different corners of the world "silenced". Thus, the ban on nuclear testing has become global. Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has taken its special place in the vanguard of the movement for a world without nuclear weapons. Our country, thanks to the global anti-nuclear initiatives of Elbassy, is a party to all fundamental international treaties in the field of nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and the peaceful use of nuclear energy, S. Berdagulova stressed.
She spoke about the contribution of Elbassy to the cause of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation in the world, which was highly appreciated by world leaders. According to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Nursultan Nazarbayev leaves a great legacy. "During his leadership of the country, he promoted issues of peace, stability and sustainable development not only in his country, but in the region as a whole. He is definitely one of the great world leaders," he noted.
The lecture was accompanied by a presentation slide show, and the lecturer invited participants to view a video tour on the website of the Library of Elbassy dedicated to International Day against Nuclear Tests.
