VETERANS OF KAZAKHSTAN METALLURGY IN THE ELBASY LIBRARY

On the eve of the professional holiday, Metallurgists Day, a delegation of veterans of the metallurgical industry visited the Elbasy Library. The guests were shown expositions telling about the formation of the country's Independence, as well as about the labor activity of the First President of Kazakhstan. The visitors were particularly interested in the exhibits and archival documents telling about the work of N. A. Nazarbayev in Temirtau in the 1960s.

The collection of the Elbasy Library contains many unique photographs, books and souvenirs related to the period of N. A. Nazarbayev's activity in the metallurgical industry. The First President of Kazakhstan was a participant and an eyewitness to many achievements at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant. Abrashid Omar, a veteran of metallurgy, shared his impressions about visiting the museum:

"I have been working in the field of metallurgy for more than 25 years. During this period of duty, I chanced to meet Elbasy three times. I will always remember his words that "the country will prosper only if we all work together and strive to make it prosperous." Today we have learned in detail the beginning of the labor path of N. A. Nazarbayev, who managed to build a strong Independent Kazakhstan over these years. This causes a great sense of pride for the country, for our people, for the profession that teaches you to be strong, persistent, responsible and purposeful."

Everyone who is involved in the process of metal smelting, from ore mining to processing of the finished product, celebrates a professional holiday on the third Sunday of July – Metallurgist Day. This date is celebrated annually according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 15, 2003.
