In a world that creates Nurgul Ulzhekova, no child will encounter any restrictions. Her mission is to teach society to accept people with disabilities in all spheres of life on equal terms, with equal opportunities. Nurgul Tulenovna won the attention of millions of Kazakhstanis by winning the project "100 new personalities of Kazakhstan" in the "Sport" category. Her personal achievement is the creation of the World of Equal Opportunities Public Fund, an organization engaged in the social rehabilitation of children with disabilities by means of adaptive physical culture and sports.
Nurgul Tulenovna is a mother of three children, one of whom has special needs. It is no secret that people with disabilities face many challenges on a daily basis in modern society. In order to overcome social injustice, Nurgul Ulzhekova created the Public Association "Society of parents of children with disabilities "World of equal opportunities" in 2016.
"The great maternal desire to help not only my special child, but also hundreds of similar children, has led me to devote the last four years to organizing free inclusive sports sections for children with special needs. Movement is life. And these words to our children are of particular importance and relevance," says N. Ulzhekova.
As a representative of civil society, Nurgul Ulzhekova actively participates in parliamentary hearings, working groups of relevant ministries, where she suggests ways to solve problems. In a relatively short period of time, she managed to achieve great success. Currently in the sections of the fund "World of Equal Opportunities" children with different forms of disability are engaged. Special need children go to karate, taekwondo, swimming, inclusive choreography, boccia, goalball, orienteering. Moreover, children regularly participate in competitions.
"All children should be happy. We strive to make sure that every special child experiences great success at least once. After all, this feeling in the future gives them strength, stimulates a strong interest in sports," Nurgul Ulzhekova is convinced.
In 2017, Nurgul developed her own social project "Salamatty bolashaq", aimed at forming an independent personality and social adaptation of children with disabilities through sports. Children are engaged in adaptive sports, strengthen the immune system, fight with secondary health complications, communicate with their peers, and socialize. Regular physical activity improves their intellectual and communication abilities.
Thanks to her pro-active attitude, Nurgul managed to find support from a number of state, commercial and non-profit organizations. The general partner is the Samruk Kazyna Trust.
The first Kazakhstani textbooks on adaptive physical culture and sports in Russian and Kazakh languages were developed within the framework of the Salamatty Bolashak Project. They contain not only the theory and methodology of adaptive physical education, but also the legal and regulatory framework for sport in Kazakhstan and the history of the development of adaptive sport in Kazakhstan.
"The earlier a child with special needs is involved in systematic sports, the more successful it will be to adapt to society and maximize life skills. It will be easier for such a child to go to school and have a better chance of finding a job in the future. We see amazing results from our "special" athletes. Children grow up and achieve their success in sports thanks to our team of coaches and doctors. I am grateful to destiny that is always flexible with our Fund, including the need puzzle in our development", – said N. Ulzhekova.
Nurgul plans to spread the experience of the Salamatty Bolashak Project throughout the country. This is due to the increased number of requests from families raising children with disabilities. The main goal of the project is to convey to the government the importance of adaptive physical education for people with disabilities for all ages, at all levels of education.
Perseverance and the will to win is the main thing in an athlete's career. In the activities of Nurgul Tulenovna, these qualities are also extremely important. As a result of her tireless work, free sports sections for children with special needs were opened in Pavlodar on September 16 this year. Earlier, they appeared in the Karaganda region. Shymkent, Almaty, Aktobe, and Kokshetau will soon join the project. Altogether, adaptive sport is planned to reach about 400 children.
