Master of sports of international class in ballroom dancing in a wheelchair Malika Muktarova captured the hearts of Kazakhstanis not only with her talent but also with her colossal perseverance, ability to overcome difficulties. However, when the girl was born in 2000 with a disability, doctors had made very pessimistic predictions. However, this is how the bright life path of a beautiful, purposeful and very talented Kazakhstani woman was destined to begin.
Malika Muktarova is an eight-time champion of Kazakhstan, a two-time bronze World champion, a prize-winner of the Golden Book of Youth of Kostanay region, a laureate of the "Zhan Shuak" Foundation and the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy. In 2019, Malika took part in the project "100 new personalities of Kazakhstan", in which she also won a glorious victory in the "Sport" category.
Master of Sports of international class in competitive ballroom dancing in wheelchairs, Malika is now a 3rd-year student of the music department of the Kostanay Pedagogical University. The girl showed creative talent in early childhood - at the age of 7, her first performance took place. The girl won a vocal competition in the capital of Kazakhstan. Thanks to the full support of parents, teachers and friends, she managed to grow up an active and hard-working person. After winning the vocal competition, Malika joined the public association of people with disabilities "Umit-Nadezhda", where her talent revealed new facets, namely, she came to the world of dance.
"I had no idea about ballroom dancing in wheelchairs, but after visiting the training of athletes, I was impressed by how gracefully they moved. At that time, the preparation for the Cup of Kazakhstan was taking place, the dancers came from different parts of the country. The atmosphere fascinated me so much that I thought, how amazing it all is!", says Malika.
Her hobby gave the opportunity to realize her sporting ambitions and bright achievements. Thanks to perseverance, hard training and the desire to win, Malika managed to achieve excellent results in a year of training. In 2015, at the regional championship, the girl won gold.
In 2016, a silver medal at the National Championship of Kazakhstan opened the way to international competitions - Malika represented Kazakhstan at the World Cup/Continental Cup in St. Petersburg, where she won a bronze medal. In the same year, she won 2 gold medals at the Asian Championships in Taipei (China).
Daily training and striving for new heights continued. In 2017, Malika became a five-time champion of Kazakhstan. In 2018, she won 4 gold medals at the World Championships in Frankfurt (Germany). In the same year, she was awarded the prize of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy.
Each year for Malika is a new stage in the development of a personality, an athlete, a strong person. In 2019, she won two silver medals at the Dutch Open. Today, Malika is studying at a university and continues to practice dance. Her motto: "Do not give up!" She generously shares her love of life with all the people around her. It is enough to watch her dance, and it becomes clear that nothing is impossible for a person.
Malika calls her grandmother Ulbolgan an example of selfless love and faith in a person. When doctors gave parents a disappointing prediction about the health and future of the newborn, the grandmother, who had a strong character, said: "Do not say nonsense! In the future, you will definitely see how she will glorify her name!" The good and bright prophecy of her grandmother came true. Today the name of Malika Muktarova is known far outside the country.
Malika's advice to anyone who doubts his abilities: "Do not give up! I always say to myself, "Who if not me?" And whatever the obstacles in front of us, it is important and necessary not to give up and not to put obstacles to yourself, saying "I will not succeed." You must always believe in yourself in everything!"
