On October 31, in the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy, the presentation of books published by the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) – the five-volume "Zhamig at-Tauarih" by Rashid ad-Din, as well as the two-volume work “Zikzal” Bekasyl Bibolatuly, published in the framework of the initiative of the Head of the state N. Nazarbayev's "100 outstanding personalities of the Turkic world" and the program "Ruhani Zhangyru" has taken place.
The event was organized by the international Turkic Academy and the Library of Elbassy.
– Rashid ad-Din "Zhamig at-Tauarih" written in the middle ages about the history of the great Steppe, life and lineage of Genghis Khan, about our ancestors and their development, about the development of our state gives a lot of valuable information from a scientific perspective. By the efforts of the International Turkic Academy, this book has been translated into several languages of the world, and I would like to note it was translated directly from Persian into Kazakh. It can be said without exaggeration that the publication of Rashid ad-Din’s work is a historical event in the spiritual life of Kazakhstan’s people,” said Maulen Ashimbayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Nur Otan Party.
In September this year at the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic speaking States, the President presented a program "Ruhani Zhangyru" and offered it as a model for the Turkic world. Also, in order to preserve the valuable works of the great thinkers of fraternal peoples for future generations, the President proposed to implement a special project called "100 outstanding personalities of the Turkic world" and "100 Holy places of the Turkic world". ... It is difficult to overestimate the significance of the publication "Zhamig at-Tauarih" by Rashid ad-Din. This work covers the entire chronicle of the Great Steppe; it is one of the very first fundamental works written on such a professional level. Therefore, the publication of "Zhamig at-Tauarih" in the Kazakh language can be called a tremendous event not only for the scientific community, but for all of our people," said Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov, First Deputy Director of the Library of the President.
The Vice-Minister of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Aryn congratulated the International Turkic Academy and the entire scientific community of the country on the publication of the books "Zhamig at-Tauarih" and "Zikzal" in the Kazakh language. He presented a diploma from the Minister of Public Development of Kazakhstan Darkhan Kaletayev to Zaripbay Orazbai, a senior associate of South Kazakhstan State University, who made a direct translation from the original into the Kazakh language of the book "Zhamig at-Tauarih".
- Writing of history is similar to creation of history, because unrecorded history disappears. We are pleased that the Turkic Academy was able to contribute to the replenishment and development of our history and spirituality by publishing these books, - noted the President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali and thanked a member of the Council of Ulems of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan senior researcher of the SKSU Zaripbay Orazbai for the translation work as an expert in Arabic and Persian languages, and handed him a silver badge of the International Turkic Academy.
The presentation was attended by deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, public figures, scientists, government officials, etc.
The work "Zhamig al-Tauarih" by Rashid ad-Din Fazlullah Khamadani, who served as chief vizier at the court of the Ilkhanov state, founded by the grandson of Genghis Khan Hulagu, was completed in 1316. This is a fundamental work covering the Turkic history from ancient times, the origin of the Turkic tribes, their habitats and toponymy, the genealogies of the Kagans and other leaders who ruled the states. This is a unique work in Turkic historiography, which contains the names of many tribes that today are part of the Turkic peoples, as well as related legends and myths. This work written in Persian was later used by such scholars as Kadyrgali Zhalayiry, Abul-Ghazi Bahadur-khan, Kurbangali Khalid, Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeyuly, Shakarim Kudaiberdiuly. The well-known scientist and orientalist, academician V. Bartold highly estimated this book, having noted that "in the middle ages of such historical works of encyclopedic character was not at any people of the world, neither in Asia, nor in Europe". 700 years later the book is published in full translation into Kazakh with detailed comments.
The two-volume work "Zigzal" by Bekasyl Bibolatuly published with the support of TWESCO is also a work telling about the spiritual consciousness and traditions of the Kazakh people. The original of this work the author of which lived at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was found in the early 2000s. The book contains interesting information about the traditional culture and lifestyle of the Kazakh people.
