On March 1 and 4 of this year, employees of the Library of Elbasy held a training seminar in the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Gender Policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan - United Nations Resolution No. 1325".
The purpose of the seminar was the strengthening of the national unity of the people of Kazakhstan and the implementation of the Head of state policies on gender equality, the empowerment of the women of Kazakhstan and clarification of the basic norms of UN Resolution No. 1325.
- World practice shows that gender issues are a priority in public policy in many countries. Our country is also pursuing a course towards the formation of a gender policy. According to the Gender Gap Index of the World Economic Forum, Kazakhstan ranks high on key gender indicators and is among the countries with a high level of gender equality. Nevertheless, gender inequality persists everywhere, and threats to the lives and security of women and girls still exist in many parts of the world, especially in conflict and post-conflict regions of the world. Therefore, 20 years ago, the UN Security Council developed resolution 1325, which once again draws the attention of the world community to gender issues, and also recognizes the importance of women themselves in peacekeeping, peacemaking, and post-conflict reconstruction, and calls for such work to be intensified. Our country, developing a policy of gender equality, plans to increase the number of female military personnel in the national contingent of Kazakhstan for UN peacekeeping missions, as one of the most important elements of modern gender policy", Sagintay Berdagulova, a leading researcher at the Library of Elbasy, said in her lecture.
In addition, the seminar discussed the development of women's potential, creating conditions for equal representation of men and women in the workplace, business, politics and public administration, and comprehensive protection of motherhood. The trainees also took part in training to model project activities in the field of education and preservation of folk customs and traditions, gender equality and social issues.
At the end of the training seminar, the participants were awarded certificates.
The listeners shared their opinions:
Aidos Syzdykov:
