SYMBOLS OF PRIDE

On the occasion of the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Library of Elbasy organized an online excursion "State symbols - Attributes of Independence of Kazakhstan" for students of the College of Service and Tourism in Nur-Sultan. Listeners saw the halls of the historical building of the capital - the former Residence of the President of Kazakhstan through the "Zoom" platform. The Residence contained the standards of state symbols and exhibited the Guard of Honor of the Republican Guard.

The Government adopted the Constitutional Law "On state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan" on June 4, 2007. Since then, we annually celebrate this date as the day of the State Symbols of Kazakhstan.

The First President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev recalls the history of the creation of the state symbols in his book “The Era of Independence”: “The most important attribute of statehood is symbolism. The country needed symbols that would express its individuality in bright, laconic and instantly recognizable images. It took a lot of effort to solve the most difficult and responsible task. I took an active part in the work on the flag and coat of arms of our state".

Head of State K.K. Tokayev said: “The National emblem, National flag and National anthem embody the highest values of our Independence - peace, unity, harmony, and progress. I am sure that together we will achieve the new victories on the path of building a strong, authoritative state, guarding the interests of the people".

At the dawn of Independence, the creation of the first symbols of Kazakhstan acquired a nationwide character. The past competition became a vivid evidence of Kazakhstan patriotism, 245 projects participated in the final competition.

The author of National flag is the honored artist of Kazakhstan - Shaken Niyazbekov. The blue banner is the color of the sky and water. The sun, rays, an eagle and an ornament in gold. The sun symbolizes the source of life, energy and abundance. The eagle flapping its wings is a symbol of freedom, independence, and vigilance. The beauty of Kazakh art lies in the strip of ornament that symbolizes the national character.

The authors of the National emblem are well-known architects of Kazakhstan Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shota Ualikhanov. The shanyrak on a blue background is the base of a symbol. The sunrays are like uyks (support in the structure of the yurt). By the way, the rays symbolize ethnic groups living together in Kazakhstan. The wings of mythical horses frame the image. Golden-winged horses with crescent-shaped horns - tulpars - mean a peaceful state policy, a willingness to defend their homeland. The five-pointed star is the openness of Kazakhstan to the peoples of five continents.

Shamshi Kaldayakov wrote the main patriotic song of the country «Menin Kazakhstanym» on the verses of Zhumeken Nazhimedenov in 1956.

Elbasy finalized the original text to give the song the high status of the national anthem and a more solemn sound. The Parliament of Kazakhstan approved the new National anthem of the country on January 6, 2006. Note that the original document with the manuscripts of N.A. Nazarbayev is kept in his personal archive in the Library of Elbasy.

During the online excursion, the staff of the Excursion Activities Service answered questions from students who were deeply interested in the history of the creation of the symbols of the country and their authors. As the organizers of the excursion noted, holding such events opens up wide opportunities for introducing young people to museum culture, expanding knowledge of the history of Kazakhstan.
