The Seminar "Electronic resources of the leading foreign publishing houses to support education, science and culture"

In March 17, 2015, the "Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation" held a seminar "Electronic resources of leading foreign publishers to support education, science and culture."

The seminar-training was organized by "KONEK" - one of the leading distributors of Emerald, Elsevier, Cambridge, Oxford, OECD, Springer and other worldwide publishing companies.

Marcin Dembowski, regional sales manager in CIS and Baltic countries of Oxford University Press presented databases and electronic collections of Oxford University.

Elena Eronina, director of the department of electronic resources of Russian subscription agency CHSC "KONEK" held a presentation on topics: "Innovative database ProQuest: a new platform, new resources"; "Arab Book"; "National Knowledge Base of China (CNKI databases) ". Alec Igin, regional manager of the Emerald Group Publishing Limited, introduced the unique electronic resources in business, management, economic, finance, education, library and information services (magazines, books, archives, cases), and Grzegorz Prosschuk, regional sales manager in the CIS and Baltic countries, the company of Wolters Kluwer Ovid Technology in the CIS and Baltic countries - with electronic resources CUP (University of Cambridge).

The librarianship of Leader of the Nation Library, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Library of the National Gallery "Astana" and research libraries, acquainted with the new opportunities of electronic resources of leading foreign publish houses and information providers. Participants were able to assess scientific value of the information provided, convenience and benefits of working with electronic resources.

Guests of the event were also given an information about the cultural, organizational and strategic directions of Leader of the Nation Library; they visited interactive educational center "Ideas, Changing the World" and personal library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation N.A. Nazarbayev.
