The achievements of our Republic during the years of independence have received support and recognition all over the world. From the first days of the formation of young Kazakhstan, one of the most important tasks of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy N. Nazarbayev was to establish diplomatic relations with all countries of the world. Over these years, a tremendous amount of work has been done, and Kazakhstan's foreign policy contacts under the leadership of Elbassy were built on the basis of high mutual trust, respect and cooperation. As a result, now Kazakhstan has the status of a peaceful, economically stable, multinational state which is strongly taking the place in the international space.
The Library of Elbassy presents a new information project "Kazakhstan's way: foreign policy", in which we will talk about the history of diplomatic relations of Kazakhstan with other countries, participation of our country in international organizations, global ideas and peace initiatives of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, that received a lot of positive response of the world community.

An important event during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea was the opening of the Year of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Korea and awading the First President of Kazakhstan the title of Honorary Doctor of Science at the University of Korea. The decision to award the title was made by the Academic Council of the University and announced at a meeting of N. Nazarbayev with the teaching staff and students of the Korea University.

Speaking to the faculty and student audience, Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked the University management for awarding such a high title. The Head of Kazakhstan noted that the Korea University and its graduates have made a huge contribution to the development of their country. They contributed to the Republic of Korea entering the frontiers in world politics and economics. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan and Korea intend to shift the focus in bilateral economic cooperation towards the implementation of high-tech and innovative projects. Here, the President of Kazakhstan gave a leading role to the interaction of universities and other higher educational institutions, research institutes and scientific centers of Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Joint training and exchange of specialists can become a huge field for the development of Kazakh-Korean cooperation. The Head of Kazakhstan stressed the need to ensure the convergence of education systems, research and innovation activities, ongoing in two countries.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that 100 students from Kazakhstan study at universities in South Korea. Kazakhstan intends to expand educational exchange within the framework of the Bolashak program.
The Head of Kazakhstan, concluding his speech, expressed gratitude for the high honor of being an Honorary Doctor of the Korean University and wished the faculty and students of the University, as well as the entire Korean people peace, prosperity and well-being.
Kazakhstan and South Korea have long-standing friendly and partnership relations. Intensive dialogue is taking place at the highest level. Contacts are actively developing at the level of parliaments and governments, ministries and departments, and the business community.
Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries are developing rapidly. In 2019, Kazakhstan and South Korea signed a new Economic Cooperation Program for 2019-2022 "Fresh wind", which provides for the launch of 58 Kazakh-Korean projects in 10 areas. 300 joint ventures with Korean capital are already operating in Kazakhstan. The total volume of direct investment from South Korea in the economy of Kazakhstan for the period from 2005 to 2018 amounted to $ 5 billion.
About 20 universities in Kazakhstan have established relations with Korean higher education institutions.

The state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev to Seoul in 2010 was the third in the history of the two countries. The first visit of the Head of Kazakhstan to South Korea took place in May 1995. In addition, previously there was one official (in 2003) and one working (in 2012) visits of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev to the Republic of Korea.

South Korea supports the initiative of Elbassy to create "nuclear-free zones" and the Universal Declaration of a nuclear-free world. South Korea is seeking to implement denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

Korea University is one of the top three prestigious universities in Korea, along with the National University and Yonsei University. Korea University is one of the oldest educational institutions in Korea (founded in 1905). It is included in the World 100-the top best universities in the world. The University is also a member of various academic associations, including APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities), whose members include such well-known research universities Stanford, the University of California at Berkeley, UBC, Beijing and Tokyo universities, and the National University of Singapore.
