The book collection of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was enriched with "The Fate and Legacy of Chokan Valikhanov" by Zharas Yermekbayev.
The work in Kazakh and Russian is dedicated to the outstanding son of the Kazakh people Chokan Valikhanov, who went down in history as a traveler and scientist, whose scientific heritage remains relevant to the present.
In his introduction to the book, Professor Vasily Zinoviev of the National Research Tomsk State University noted that a lot of documentary evidence has been collected about Chokan Valikhanov's short life and multifaceted activities.
In this regard, according to V. Zinoviev, the author had several reasons to write the book: "...The first reason is the desire to add and clarify information about Ch. Valikhanov and to implement the significant material he found in the Russian and Kazakh archives about the outstanding son of the Kazakh people... Every nation should know its geniuses and should treat the memory of them with care and respect."
Zharas Yermekbayev worked on the edition for several years. Collecting material, he participated in various scientific forums, conferences on Chokan Valihanov, met and corresponded with colleagues involved in his legacy.
"He opened the history and culture of individual Turkic peoples of Central Asia to the European world for the first time. His scientific works retain their relevance to this day - the author writes - For me, Chokan Valikhanov is interesting primarily as a researcher of the peoples of Eurasia. As a son of the Kazakh people, Ch. Valikhanov was interested in the history of other peoples of Central Asia. He was familiar with narrative sources written in Persian, Arabic and Turkic languages."
The book "The Fate and legacy of Chokan Valikhanov" is dedicated to the 185th anniversary of Ch. Valikhanov. The publication was released by the Republican Public Association "QazaqGeography" with the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Institute of Public Development "Rukhani Zhangyru".
