Today marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of a statesman and public figure, ethnographer, historian, academician Uzbekali Zhanibekov, who made a great contribution to the revival of Kazakh culture. Thanks to the vigorous activity of U. Zhanibekov, unique monuments of the Great Steppe have been preserved and restored: the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yassaui, the monuments of Otrar, the Zharkent mosque, the mausoleums of Tajik, Ak-Uyuk, Karakhan, Aisha-bibi, Babaja-Khatun and the National Museum of Musical Instruments was also established.

Uzbekali Zhanibekov was born on August 28, 1931 in the village of Mayakum in the former Turkestan region. In 1952 he received a diploma from the Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute, after which he began working as a teacher at a school. In 1955 he entered the Komsomol work, where he showed great activity and bright organizational skills. This period contributed to the further activities of U. Zhanibekov, when he moved to the central government bodies of the former Kostanay and Almaty regions.
Uzbekali Zhanibekov's contemporaries recall that he was a great patriot of his people, devoted to his land. Serving his cause, he made every effort to inspire young people to great deeds and deeds, to cultivate honesty in them, and strove to revive the national spirit.
U. Zhanibekov encouraged young people to learn and broaden their horizons. “They can't be shepherds all their life ?!”, - the activist justly asked and tirelessly carried out work, meeting with young people everywhere.
From 1977 to 1987, Uzbekali Zhanibekov was Deputy Minister of Culture of the Kazakh SSR, 1987 to 1988 - Minister of Culture. The year 1988 is of particular importance for everything Kazakh - thanks to the efforts of U. Zhanibekov, the Nauryz holiday was revived. Thanks to this and many other achievements in the revival of spiritual and cultural values, U. Zhanibekov has earned high prestige and respect of the people. He managed to show brilliant organizational, business and professional qualities, rallying around himself loyal like-minded people.
U. Zhanibekov tirelessly studied culture, ethnography, including ancient and modern architecture and national ornaments, dances and other elements of culture. He has written numerous articles, studies and books on art and its topical issues.
One of the greatest achievements of the Kazakh leader was the return of the sacred Taikazan from the Hermitage to the mausoleum of Akhmet Yasavi. It was under U. Zhanibekov that an inventory of Kazakhstan ancient artifacts was first carried out, a scientific conference was organized for museums at the state level, which made the scientist a real reformer. For services to the country, U. Zhanibekov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.
The book fund of the Elbasy Library contains a book by U. Zhanibekov "Tradition and Time". In addition, there is the publication "Soldier of the Spirit", which tells about the bright life path of this outstanding person. It contains the memories of colleagues, friends, contemporaries - those in whose life Uzbekali Zhanibekov left an indelible mark and a bright memory.
