People's writer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, winner of the Lenin Komsomol prize of Kazakhstan and the international prize named after Fuzuli, co-author of the anthem text, poet who glorifies nature and love Tumanbay Moldagaliev was born on March 20, 1935, in the village of Zharsu, Almaty region.
Tumanbay Moldagaliev came to poetry in the mid-1950s. In 1954, his first poem "To the Ukrainiangirl" was published. In 1956, he graduated from the faculty of Philology of the Kazakh State University named after S. Kirov. In 1957, his first book of poetry "The student's notebook" was published. Then the following collections of the poet's works were published: "Kamila", "Spring dawns", "Kuralai", "Song of Feruze", "Daughter of Alatau", "I am the son of Semirechye", "Days", "My heart is on the way", "New notebook", "Summer call", etc. In Moscow, his books of poems and "The first meeting", "Thoughts of the Dzhigit", "And I was twelty" were published in Russian. The publishing house "Zhazushi" has published selected poetry collections "Farewell, spring" and a collection of poems "The heart does not sleep". In the last years of his life, poems "Letters, letters", a collection of poems "The fire of love does not go out", "And I was twenty", a collection of poems for children "I am the grandson of Ilyich", poems "Birds fly", "Letters on heart" came out.
T. Moldagaliev worked in the magazine "Pioneer" (1959-1970), was the Executive Secretary of the magazine "Baldyrgan" (1970-1973). Since 1973, he worked in the main editorial office of children's and youth literature at the Zhazushypublishing house and the Editor-in-chief of the Zhalyn literary miscellany.
The poet also worked fruitfully in the field of literary translation. He translated into Kazakh the works of classics of Russian and foreign literature by D. Byron, M. Yu. Lermontov, T. G. Shevchenko, O. Tumanyan, S. Kaputikyan, G. Gulyam, H. Gulyam, R. Gamzatov and others.
He is known to Kazakhstanis not only for being a co-author of the text of the first anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also as the author of many poetic lines that were first heard in songs. Songs on his words are very popular: "Qustar qaıtypbarady" (Muz. N. Tlendiyev), "Baqyt qushaǵynda", "Ánіm sen ediń" (Muz. Sh. Kaldayakov), "Epticvalsi" (Muz. Zhamakaeva), "Shaqyrady kóktem"(music by A. Beiseuov),"Jan dosym" and many others.
Among the works of the poet there are verses that T. Moldagaliev, dedicated Elbassy: "Aqmolaǵaastana kóshkende", "Esіl er", "El úshіn", "Juldyzyńdybıіkten taǵy kórdіm", "Nursultan senі oıladym", "Senіń týǵan kúnіnde", "Sózіne basyn ızep el turady", "Tarıh taǵy qolyna Tý alǵyzdy", "Halyqtyńuly".
On May 24, 2010, in Almaty GATOB named after Abai held a creative evening dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the People 's Writer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, poet TumanbayaMoldagaliev. Kazakh pop stars, writers, poets, andcomposers, attended the event. Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov also congratulated the hero of the day. He read out the welcoming letter of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"Your creativity is a unique phenomenon in ournational verbal art. The great mistake of all subsequent generations of poets will be not to imitate You, not to follow your example, not try to learn from You. You raised to the level of a true master of love lyrics in Kazakh literature, you were able to convey words and transfer to paper the most tender and beautiful feelings that live in the human soul. Your pure poetry will live in the hearts of people for a long time!"- was noted in the message.
In 2010, by decree of N. Nazarbayev, T. Moldagaliev was awarded the Order of "Dostyk" I degree.
On October 10, 2011, the poet's heart stopped, but he continues to live in the hearts of those who listen to his songs today, read poems and are familiar with the work of the outstanding Kazakh figure of our time.
In 2017, a street named after TumanbayMoldagaliev appeared in Almaty.
In the Library of Elbassy are stored collections of works of poets "Shaqyrady kóktem", "Kónedápterlerden", "Qosh, kóktemіm", "Shyńdaǵygúlder", "Jıyrma besіnshі kóktem: Ólender men poemalar", "Otan dep soqsa júregіń", "Jaz ortasy", "Men qazaqpyn", as well as a 14-volume collection of selected works of the poet. The collection "Days are passing" is presented by poems translated into Russian by T. Moldagaliev. Readers can also read a collection of articles of creativity of the poet, compiled by Zh. Moldagalieva and A. Mukibekuly.
