The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a literary hour, "Ulttyn uly ustazy", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh poet, literary scholar, Turkologist, publicist, teacher, translator and statesman Akhmet Baitursynuly.
The participants of the evening were teachers and students of the 8th grade of the gymnasium named after F. Ongarsynova, No. 77 of Astana.
The event included a presentation about the life and work of Ahmet Baitursynuly, as well as a book exhibition devoted to the scientist's work.
The purpose of the Literary Hour project is to highlight memorable and significant dates inextricably linked with the history and culture of Kazakhstan, using the Library's book collection, popularising the work of poets and writers who made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh literature.

Akhmet Baitursynuly (1872-1937) was born on September 5, 1872, in the village of Sarytubek, Zhangeldinsky district, Kostanay region. He was a Kazakh poet, literary scholar, Turkologist, publicist, teacher, translator and public figure, one of the leaders of the national liberation movement of the Kazakh people of the early twentieth century, statesman, scientist-founder of Kazakh linguistics and literary studies, reformer of national writing, educator and member of the executive power of Alash-Orda.
