THE LIBRARY OF ELBASY SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION WITH TURKPA

Today a delegation of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States (TurkPA) headed by Secretary-General Mehmet Sureyya Er visited the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.

In the course of the visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Library of Elbasy and TurkPA.

"The brotherly Turkish people are the first country to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan. By signing the Memorandum today, our organizations have taken another step towards the development of cooperation between the two countries. It is significant that this happens in the year of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence and its chairmanship in TurkPA. Elbasy, as the leader of the Turkic world, made a huge contribution to the integration, as well as to the development of cultural and spiritual values of the Turkic-speaking countries. I am sure that by joint efforts we will be able to ensure a high level of cooperation in the field of education, culture and science," Bakhytzhan Temirbolat said.

 

The Memorandum is aimed at cooperation between the Turkic peoples in order to implement joint cultural, educational and research projects in support of the development of interaction between the TurkPA member states, the preservation and development of cultural and historical heritage, languages, traditions, spiritual values of the Turkic peoples.

As Head of State K.K.Tokayev notes, TurkPA created on the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev is an authoritative organization contributing to the unity of the brotherly countries.

"To counter new challenges, we must strengthen mutual cooperation, increase the potential of our partners and strengthen the role of the Turkic-speaking countries in the international arena," K.K.Tokayev said.

"The First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, is hugely influential in the world political arena as a prominent statesman and an outstanding personality. We are pleased to cooperate with the Library of Elbasy, which is the center of education and science, history and culture," said Mehmet Sureyya Er.

During the meeting, the TurkPA delegation visited the Museum of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

For reference: The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking Countries (TurkPA) is a parliamentary association of Turkic-speaking countries, the purpose of which is to form a mechanism for inter-parliamentary relations between Turkic-speaking countries, rapprochement of political views, exchange of information, promotion of Turkic culture, expansion of economic ties, implementation of joint projects, finding solutions to the problems of the Turkic world.

The agreement on the establishment of TurkPA was signed on November 21, 2008, in Istanbul (Turkey).
