In the Library of the First President for pupils of the ninth form of Astana Physical-technical Lyceum No. 73 a lecture "Electoral system in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held. The educational event was devoted to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The leading researcher of the Cultural and Educational Projects Service of the Library, Asia Ospanova, conducted a short excursion into the history of the independence of our state, focusing in detail on the stages of development of its Basic Law.
In the course of the lesson, pupils got acquainted with the notions: "electoral system", "elections", "election campaign", "electorate", "primaries", "mandate", "absenteeism" etc. In addition, we studied the history and stages of the formation of the domestic electoral system. They learned about the peculiarities of election campaigns held in different years in Kazakhstan.
In the interactive part of the lecture, students took part in improvised elections as candidates for deputies of the Mazhilis, developed election programs and participated in debates. The rest of the pupils representing the voters expressed their opinions and comments on the candidates' election platforms and cast their votes in the elections.
The schoolchildren said that the lesson was very interesting and informative for them and emphasized that they would certainly exercise their right to participate in the electoral process upon reaching the age of majority.
