Students of Nur-Sultan secondary school No. 16 learned interesting facts about the main city of Kazakhstan during the online lecture of the Library of Elbassy. For example, few people know that the Kazakhstan capital is among the 30 best cities in the world according to one of the world rating agencies, and the oldest building in the city built in 1846 is the house where the Saken Seifullin Museum is located. The students learned about this and many other things during the lecture "The capital is a symbol of independent Kazakhstan".
Nazira Musina, a leading researcher of the department for social, humanitarian and educational projects of the Library of Elbassy, told about the history of the emergence, formation and development of the city, for which fate has prepared an honorable mission - to be the capital of independent Kazakhstan. Nur-Sultan is now known all over the world as a center of international dialogue, a city where representatives of all faiths, political views and interests gather at the negotiating table. This high authority is the result of many years of the wise and far-sighted policy of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy N. Nazarbayev.
Speaking about the deep history of these lands, the lecturer spoke about the settlements of the ancient and medieval times on the territory of the modern capital. The children are particularly interested in the medieval settlement of Bozok. In many schoolchildren, this fact always awakens the excitement of the traveller, especially after they are shown the results of the work of the Ishim archaeological expedition.
In the course of the lecture, students also learned about the etymology of the name of Akmola, historical monuments of that period, the acquisition of the city status, and the development of Tselinograd and Akmola in Soviet times.
A large and important part of the lecture is the history of the relocation of the capital and the strengthening of its international image. This topic is represented by rich archival material from the collections of the Library of Elbassy: historical photographs and documents, as well as sketches of iconic architectural structures of the capital, made by Nursultan Nazarbayev.
We would like to add that a large exhibition about the capital of Kazakhstan is currently being developed in the new building of the Elbassy Library Museum. All information is presented here through modern information technologies. For example, the modern development of the city shows a mapping show that begins with the display of the capital on the globe and continues with the image of a carpet. Through the ornaments and symbols, the lines rush to the center where Baiterek and all other iconic objects of the city grow. The capital appears to the audience as a part of the world, a territory of peace, kindness and unity of the people.
