«It is impossible to hold time's rotation …» | The library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On May 5, 2014 in the Museum of the First President of RK took place the literary evening «It is impossible to hold time's rotation …», dedicated to the 290^th anniversary of the great poet of Turkmenian literature, philosopher, scientist Makhtumkuli Fragi. The evening was organized jointly with Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the limits of the international project of the Museum "Dialogue through culture".

Makhtumkuli Fragi is an outstanding Turkmenian poet and thinker of the XVIII century. Annually on May 18 in Turkmenistan is widely celebrated the state holiday «Day of revival, unity and poetry of Makhtumkuli Fragi». People like Makhtumkuli's works, which are handed and kept by musicians and storytellers, mainly thanks to the modern poetic language. His verse is approached to folk speech, it is set not on the Arab-Persian metrics, but on the national syllabic system. That is why the people adopt Makhtumkuli’s works. Many of his lines became proverbs and sayings.

At the literary evening were read the verses of the classic poet in Turkmenian, Kazakh and Russian languages. The guests had an opportunity to get acquainted with Makhtumkuli Fragi’s collection of works, translated to the Kazakh language by Duissenbek Kanatbayev.
