THE HEALING POWER OF ART

On June 9, the Library of Elbasy hosted an art therapy session "The Fascinating World of Art". It was a traditional event for children with special needs, organized jointly with the Department of Education of Nur‑Sultan city and Psychological Center “Revival”.

This event was attended by the younger age group of the NGO "Society of Children with Disabilities in Nur-Sultan" and the PF "Balam-ai", and their parents.

The main goal of art therapy activity is to achieve positive changes in the psychological and social area of children with disabilities. Art therapy helps to relieve stress, activates internal personal resources, promotes the formation of interpersonal skills, compensates for lost opportunities, and provides conditions for an optimal process of adaptation and integration into society.

The Deputy Director of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Botagoz Kaipova opened event.

– For more than 15 years, we have been annually holding similar events for children with special needs, within the framework of museum educational programs. Many of these children grew up with us before our eyes. It is very important for us that we can give them joy, promote social adaptation and development, and introduce their parents with new methods of work and interaction. The Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev has always paid and continues to pay special attention to supporting young people and their education, including inclusive education. We became the first country in the post-Soviet space to adopt a law on social and medical-pedagogical correctional support for children with disabilities. In December 2008, Kazakhstan joined the Convention on “The Rights of the Child” and assumed obligations to ensure the rights of people with disabilities. The Library is developing a number of social programs, initiatives, and implementing them to support this category of our citizens. Head of state K.K. Tokayev notes that the country needs to pay attention to the creation of the necessary environment and empowerment of persons with special needs, - said B. Kaipova. On behalf of the Director of the Library of Elbasy Bakytzhan Temirbolat, she presented letters of thanks to the staff and teachers of the NGO "Society of Children with Disabilities in Nur-Sultan "And the Psychological Center "Revival".

Representatives of the NGO "Society of Children with Disabilities in Nur-Sultan", in turn, also expressed gratitude to the staff of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy.

The Library organized a creative holiday “Travel to a Fairy Tale” as part of the art therapy session, during which the participants were able to meet fairy-tale heroes and cartoon characters, dance and play with them.

The dance ensemble "Aru" presented the children with the dance "Syrly Ornek".

Clay therapy and drawing with teachers had a beneficial effect on the ability of children to concentrate their attention, helped to activate sensory perception and free creative self-expression, reduce psycho-emotional stress, and develop interaction skills in groups.

After the presentation of the works, the children received memorable gifts, and the Library of Elbasy conducted a tour of the halls of the museum for the guests.
