EXHIBITION "HISTORICAL CHOICE. THE ERA OF INDEPENDENCE"

Today in the Museum of Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy opened the exhibition "Historical choice. The Era of Independence". The event timed to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan was organized within the framework of the scientific-exhibition project of the Library of Elbasy "Historical choice".  

"The main and indisputable achievement of the state policy of Elbasy, which transformed the image of independent Kazakhstan and is an integral part of his legacy, is the building of a modern state. All the main milestones of the formation of independent Kazakhstan – international legal registration of borders, an effective model of interethnic and interfaith harmony, the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, the first flight of Kazakh cosmonaut Tokhtar Aubakirov - all this and much more are reflected in our today's exhibition," Director of the Library of Elbasy Bakytzhan Temirbolat said in his welcoming speech and congratulated those present on the upcoming anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan.

The core of the new system of public administration has become the institution of the presidency. The history of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence is featured in the exhibition in the context of the formation and improvement of this vertical of democratic power. The processes of statehood formation, independence and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan formed the basis of the content of the exhibition "Historical Choice. The Era of Independence". 
"The years of the formation of independent Kazakhstan were difficult. And those who were close to Elbasy at that time, worked with him with heart and soul, sparing no effort. We created foreign and domestic policy, the entire architecture of socio-political consciousness and the development of society. We renounced nuclear weapons, and I recall now how hard it was to negotiate... It was thanks to Elbasy and the unity of the people. It is the unity of the people that is decisive for our independence," said the statesman of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the First Minister of Foreign Affairs of independent Kazakhstan Tuleutai Suleimenov. 
The footage of the historical event with the symbolic name "Bata" was widely disseminated. In 1991, after the solemn meeting of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR of the twelfth convocation at the Palace of the Republic in Almaty on the occasion of the official inauguration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aksakal Shakir Abenov gave his blessing - "Bata" to N.A. Nazarbayev. 
The author of this unique footage is film director Oralbek Sarybasov, who today donated the primary source of the documentary "Bata" to the Library of Elbasy. It will be used in future research and exhibition projects. 

"We tried to capture on video all the most important things in the early years of our Independence. I am happy that we managed to capture the key moments of history – the inauguration of Elbasy, as well as his oath of office. Unfortunately, we didn't have audio during the oath, but I was able to find and re-record this fragment on Kazakh radio. Due to the technical capabilities of the time, image and sound often didn't match, because they were recorded on different tapes. But that was the luck that everything in our material matched very accurately," film director Oralbek Sarybasov shared his memories.
The exhibition "Historical choice. The Era of Independence" consists of two thematic sections:
"Building a new statehood" - a set of historical materials about the formation of a new Kazakh statehood.
"Strategies of an independent state" – materials reflecting the history of the formation of Kazakhstan in new geopolitical coordinates, the implementation of initiatives of Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev aimed at ensuring domestic political stability, regional and global security.
The exhibition "Historical choice. The Era of Independence" will last until January 28, 2022.
