ELBASY LIBRARY EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERNATIONAL ALTAISTIC FORUM

Elbasy Library employees took part in the II International Altaistic Forum "The Turkic-Mongolian world of the Greater Altai: historical and cultural heritage and modernity", held from September 30 to October 3 this year in Barnaul.

According to the organizers, the forum is aimed at forming strong integration ties and developing networking in the Eurasian scientific and educational space. 

During the event, a plenary session, a scientific conference, panel discussions and round tables were held.

A wide range of issues in the field of complex interdisciplinary research of the Greater Altai – a unique macroregion at the junction of the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia, including new discoveries and current research on life of the Turkic peoples of Central Asia, were discussed. The experts shared the results of their research on new archaeological materials and expeditions.

Thematic photo exhibitions were also organized, telling about the archaeological finds of the Turkic period in Altai and recent expeditions of scientists of the Center of Altaistic Studies and Turkology "Big Altai", visits to monuments of the Turkic period in the Altai Republic, an exhibition of books and creative meetings with Altai cultural figures.

The forum participants were scientists and young people from Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.

Ziyabek Kabuldinov, Director of Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, and Albina Zhanbosinova, Doctor of History, leading researcher of the El-Tarikhy Research Centre of L. N. GumilevEurasian National University, addressed the plenary session of the forum.
