On September 23, the delegation of the Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Mary Most Holy in Nur-Sultan visited the Museum of the Library of Elbasy – the historical building of the first residence of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev.

The visit was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 20th anniversary of the State visit of Pope John Paul II to Kazakhstan.

On September 22, 2001, the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II visited Kazakhstan. The visit became a unique event in the history of a young sovereign state, having played an invaluable role in the establishment of intercivilizational, interreligious and interfaith dialogue in the international political arena, as well as in strengthening dialogue and partnership between Kazakhstan and the Vatican.

During the excursions, about 100 bishops, priests and monks got acquainted with the halls of the former residence of Elbasy, where high-level meetings were held, including the reception of John Paul II, as well as museum expositions.
