Aliyev Kairzhan Izteleevich - a veteran of the fishing industry, an honorary citizen of the Atyrau region, an honorary professor of the Atyrau Engineering and Humanities Institute in his memoirs says that his first meeting with the future First President took place in the 1970s: "... I worked at the Guryev fish canning factory. Once our region was visited by Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev on a working visit. At that time, he was the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. In the framework of his working visit President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited our plant, the flagship of the domestic fishing industry. ...During the visit to the factory, Nursultan Abishevich got acquainted with the production process and technology in detail, visited all the workshops, talked with the workers, and learned about housing and living conditions. Then he wanted to meet the fishermen of the Ural. We went to them on the boat. Nursultan Abishevich met with fishermen, asked about their life and earnings. At that time, there were not enough people to receive and process fish, so fishermen came to help with the cutting of fish. However, this work was paid poorly. During the conversation with N. Nazarbayev, the fishermen raised this issue. Taking into account the circumstances, Nursultan Abishevich gave appropriate instructions, which resulted in proposals being prepared. As a result, the wages of fishermen increased tenfold! After this visit, residents of the region noticed changes in the central estates of fishing collective farms: they began to build new houses, and life in the region became better. This meeting with N. Nazarbayev remained forever in the memory of our fishermen.".

"As Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, I had the opportunity to work with Nursultan Nazarbayev. He was a demanding leader but he could always support and understand a person. We can say a lot about Nursultan Abishevich. He is an incredibly smart, strong-willed person and a very competent leader. In the most difficult situation, he tried not to delay the decision of issues. He was always very purposeful: if he had something in mind, he had to do it. And when quick, non-standard solutions were required, Nursultan Abishevich resolved complex issues very responsibly and always with a positive result. I remember such a case. The Ministry of Culture decided to create a collection of musical instruments, and Moscow offered to buy a Stradivari violin for this collection but asked to pay in cash. My task was to find the funds. But where? It was a lot of money, and I couldn't solve this issue. I consulted with Finance Minister Alexander Batsula. He says: "What? Manura Mergalievna, so much money in cash!" But the violin had to be purchased, and then I went to Nursultan Abishevich. He invited A. Batsula and talked with him. I don’t know how Nursultan Abishevich influenced him, but we bought a violin. For a long time, it was played by Ayman Musakhodzhayeva, and the violin is still kept in our collection of musical instruments," says Akhmetova Manura Mergalievna, a state and public figure, candidate of political science.

According to the state and public figure, member of the Presidium of the Union of citizens and organizations for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the International Union "Heirs of Victory", member of the Council of veterans of the city of Almaty, doctor of economics, professor of the Caspian Public University, academician of the International Economic Academy of Eurasia Akhmetgaliev Bolat Rashatovich, there are two points of view on the role of the individual in history: "Some believe that this role is secondary. History itself puts forward individuals at certain stages of its development. Another point of view is that it is the individual who shapes historical processes. In any case, civilization would not have been possible without the people who influenced its course. The fact that Kazakhstan has become a recognizable state on the world map in a short period of time since independence is the result of the ability of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to feel the peculiarities of the era and understand the past, foreseeing the future. This is the general opinion of all those who came into contact with the First President of Kazakhstan, who are in one way or another familiar with his activities. Everyone agrees that Nursultan Nazarbayev is an outstanding historical figure."
