BOOK COLLECTION OF THE LIBRARY OF ELBASSY. GREAT ABAI

Kazakhstan has officially launched the year of celebration of the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet, educator Abai Kunanbayev. In April last year, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to develop a large-scale plan to celebrate the anniversary of Abai. On this occasion, updated collections of books with the works of the great poet are published. The collection of the Library of Elbassy was supplemented by the book "Abai". The collection includes poems, translations, and words of edification of the outstanding son of the Kazakh people.

The book was first published in 1957 under the editorship of M. Auezov. The new edition of the publication was prepared by B. Kanapiyanov and B. Khabdina. The collection dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the poet also includes an article by Mukhtar Auezov "Great poet of the Kazakh people", published in 1954, in which Mukhtar Auezov, who devoted his life to studying the world of Abai, writes: "The researcher of the life of the Kazakh people - Abai, who left us immortal works of poetry, music and philosophical reflections, is admired by our generation. In the history of his people, he is as tall as a tree growing on a mountain peak. He absorbed the best of the centuries-old culture of the Kazakh people and enriched this treasure with the beneficial impact of Russian and Western European culture... He is the founder of the new Kazakh culture, the highest point of the Kazakh classical poetry".

Poems and words of edification that convey the full depth of Abai's philosophy will certainly enrich the reader's spiritual world and help to understand how broad the worldview of the great Kazakh educator was.

The circulation of the new book with Abay's poems and sayings amounted to 5 thousand copies. This work was carried out within the Republican program "Improving the competitiveness of the sphere of culture and art, preservation, study, and promotion of Kazakhstan's cultural heritage and improving the effectiveness of archival business", the subprogram "Acquisition, publication, and distribution of socially important types of literature" by the Committee on language policy of the Ministry of culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
