Sultan got straight A’s, he was also a Komsomol member and Secretary of the school's Komsomol Committee. He was fond of wrestling, barbell, and chess. He was always very responsible and diligently carried out the tasks entrusted to him. From a young age, Sultan was fond of reading books. A classmate of N. Nazarbayev, one of the authors of the book "Elbasy synyptastary" Rauza Tolemisova says: "At that time, of course, we did not think that Nursultan Nazarbayev would be a President, but we were sure that he would achieve a lot because since childhood, Nursultan did good deeds, organized classmates and initiated various events. He was always very responsive, took care of all of us, and helped us in everything. He was endowed by nature with many talents."
