The Library of Elbassy presents a monumental painting "Descendants of Kunanbai". The authors of the work are honored workers of Kazakhstan, members of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, artists Nurzhan Karymsakov and Amanzhol Musalimov. The picture became a worthy continuation of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev.
"Descendants of Kunanbai" is a work about the famous descendants of the Kazakh public and statesman Kunanbai Uskenbayev - the father of Abai Kunanbayev. Historical sources contain information that the poet's father, Kunanbai kazhy, was a respected aksakal in the steppe, a head of the volost, a philanthropist. As a deeply religious man, he made several pilgrimages to Mecca. He was known for his charitable deeds, built mosques, madrasas.
The portrait of Kunanbai is the central dominant figure of the composition. On the left side of Kunanbai is depicted his son Ibrahim - a thinker, poet, composer, educator, philosopher, who went down in the history of Kazakhstan and all world literature as the great Abai. Next to the poet are depicted his sons - the grandchildren of Kunanbai: Mekayil (Mekesh), Akylbai, Abdrakhman, Magauiya, Turagul.On the right side of Kunanbai is Shakarim Kudaiberdyuly, and his son Akhat Shakarimuly.
In the background, horses galloping across the steppe are depicted as a symbol of the freedom-loving, wise and peaceful Kazakh people. The Tarbagatai mountains and the mosque built by Kunanbai are also reflected in the background of the painting.
In the central lower part of the composition - Kunanbai sitting on a stone with a book in his hand, and next to him is his mother, Abai's grandmother - Zere. Next to her, there is little Ibrahim with an open book – in the future a great poet of the Kazakh people. In the distance, you can see yurts, a small lake reflecting the blue sky of a summer sunny day.
The painting "Descendants of Kunanbai" is displayed in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the new building of the Museum of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbassy.
