The national newspaper "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" celebrates the centenary. On January 1, 1920, the first issue of the progenitor of the current "Kazpravda" – the newspaper "Izvestia of the Kyrgyz territory" was published. Then it was a weekly newspaper - information on one printed sheet was published on Thursdays. The appeal from the editorial board stated, "The first task of the publication is to introduce the rule of law in the province, acts of the government designed to guide the life and activities of the population." The goal was also proclaimed - "the gradual creation of a printing body that would not only be an official one, but also an expression of the needs and requests of the vast Kazakh territory - the people's newspaper".
Over a hundred years of development, the newspaper not only achieved its goal of becoming a national publication but also won absolute recognition of readers throughout the country as the main source of objective and reliable information. In July 1921, "Izvestia of the Kyrgyz territory" was published under a new name - "Stepnaya Pravda". The newspaper became a body of the RCP and the CEC of the Republic. In 1923, after merging with the newspaper "Orenburg worker", the "Soviet steppe" appeared. The newspaper began to be published six times a week, and in the content appeared journalistic materials. By the way, during this period such famous figures as Mikhail Zoshchenko, Konstantin Simonov, Alexey Tolstoy, Sergey Mikhalkov, Konstantin Paustovsky, and others worked closely with the newspaper.
In 1929, the newspaper's publishing house moved from Orenburg to the new capital of the Republic – Alma-Ata. The publication was saturated with information, there were publications of life in other Republics of the USSR and abroad. On January 20, 1932, the last issue of the newspaper with the logo "Soviet steppe" was signed. By the resolution of the III Plenum of the Kazkraikom it was renamed "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda", the first issue was published on January 21, 1932. At the same time, permanent staff correspondents appeared in all regions of the Republic. Kazpravda continued to work actively during the Great Patriotic War. Already in peacetime, in 1958, having released the 10,000th issue of the newspaper, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" was awarded the order of the Red Banner of Labor.
At the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, in the first years of independence, the newspaper, like the whole of Kazakhstan, was experiencing a severe crisis.
The time has come for market conditions and widespread commercialization. However, the team of "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" adequately passed this period. In his congratulation in 1995 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the newspaper Elbassy wrote:
"From the very beginning of radical political and socio-economic reforms, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" strongly supported the course of market reforms, the achievement of state sovereignty, the development of democracy, ensuring civil peace and interethnic harmony in Kazakhstan."
Over the years of independence, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" has fully manifested itself as a chronicler of the history of the Republic. Already in 2020, on January 1, congratulating the staff of the newspaper on its centennial anniversary, the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbassy Nursultan Nazarbayev writes: "The newspaper is constantly in the center of the social, cultural and political life of the Republic, and its pages always present current news and an analytical view of the events taking place in the country and the world. Having become one of the most popular information resources of the country, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" continues to keep up with the times. But most importantly, thanks to a responsible civil position, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" continues to play an important role in the formation of the information space of our country."
President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev wished the Kazpravda team well-being and success in the implementation of all creative plans: "In the new historical conditions "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" has proved its relevance and competitiveness, retaining the recognition of numerous readers. This is the result of the fruitful work of the editorial team, which brought together genuine professionals and enthusiasts of their business. It is gratifying to see that you are keeping up with the times, actively working in the Internet space and discovering the possibilities of multimedia technologies in order to ensure rapid communication with readers. I am sure that the journalists of "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" will always be on the edge of events, comprehensively and promptly covering the most important aspects of the life of independent Kazakhstan".
In the era of electronic media, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" develops its website, promptly responding to all the most important events and current topics in society. Today "Kazpravda" is a generally accepted school of journalism. The experience gained in this team gives you a chance to prove yourself as a brave, objective and impartial journalist.
The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbassy has long and fruitfully cooperated with the newspaper "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" in the promotion of creative ideas and initiatives of Nursultan Nazarbayev. Congratulating the newspaper staff on the anniversary, we wish all the editorial staff health, new creative achievements, prosperity, and success!
