On September 13, 2022 the thematic exhibition «From the Dialogue of Religions to the Rapprochement of Civilizations» dedicated to the se Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions (September 14-15, 2022) opens in the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy. The forum is dedicated to the role of religious leaders in the socio-spiritual development of humanity in the post-pandemic period.
The collections of the Library are the most complete and universal on the topic of «The Origin and Implementation of the Idea of Convening the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions», to say the least. Archival, museum and book materials form a panorama of almost 20 years in the history of interreligious relations at the global level on the site of Congress.
For 30 years of independence, in building peaceful and harmonious relations in society, Kazakhstan has been guided by the principles of «unity in diversit» and joint responsibility for the future of the country, respect and ensuring the rights of citizens, regardless of ethnicity and religion. Over the years, Kazakhstan has managed to create its own model of peace, national unity and interfaith dialogue.
19 years have passed since that historical event, when the First Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held in the young capital of independent Kazakhstan, located in the heart of Eurasia - the city of Astana (now Nur-Sultan) on September 23-24, 2003. Every three years a multilateral constructive dialogue of spiritual leaders of various faiths demonstrates new opportunities in the peaceful solution of the most complex problems of humanity.
The materials of the exhibition consistently reveal the stages of implementation of the idea of convening the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, unprecedented in concept and scale.
The exhibition consists of three sections.
1. «In the name of peace and harmony». This section presents materials from the Library’s collection, which clearly demonstrate the multi-vector, pragmatic and proactive foreign policy of Kazakhstan, which makes a significant contribution to the formation and implementation of the global and regional agenda in the field of security, cooperation and development.
2. «United by the desire for peace». This section shows information about the past Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, illustrated by exhibits received from the participants of the Congress.
3. «Religions of the World». This section displays sacred books, the world and traditional religions’ articles of faith. The exposition of this section presents museum thematic collections formed based on gifts from foreign delegations and representatives of world religions.
