On September 20, 2022, at 15.00 in the Nazarbayev Center (A.Bokeikhan str., 1st, 3rd floor), the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will open the exhibition "My Homeland - Kazakhstan" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the World Kurultai of Kazakhs. The exhibition was prepared within the framework of the Kazakhstan`s Way Project.
In 1992, when the Republic of Kazakhstan gained its sovereignty and independence, Almaty hosted the First World Kurultai of Kazakhs, which united the Kazakh diaspora around the world. This Kurultai resulted in the establishment of the Assembly of Kazakh People, Kazakh Diaspora Cultural Centers, the establishment of the World Association of Kazakhs in the Republic, and later forums for the world and traditional religions, etc.
The National Kurultai held in June 2022 in the Ulytau region as a universal model of nationwide dialogue on the construction of a New Kazakhstan became a new stage in the history of holding people's congresses.
In the year of the 30th anniversary of the organization, the Library holds an exhibition "My Homeland - Kazakhstan", formed on the basis of museum, archival and book collections of the institution.
Kurultai is a historical event that is difficult to express in specific artefacts and archival materials. The theme is revealed in the genre of "political journalism" in two sections of the exhibition:
I. "Kurultai is the revival of ancestral traditions." The section features materials on the history of the formation of the national assembly, designed to unite Kazakhs from all over the world, to solve the most important issues of the life of the ethnos.
II. "Course of Continuity. New Kazakhstan". This section reveals the main aspects of the Kurultai activities over the years of independence and further prospects for the efforts of the state and society for national consolidation and strengthening of the unity of the people of Kazakhstan.
The continuity of traditions is very developed among the Kazakh people, who deeply respect their historical past. It is on the principles of continuity that the main ideas of the creation of a New Kazakhstan are built.
The Kurultai is called upon to fulfil their historical mission of consolidating Kazakh society around the idea of a New Kazakhstan based on national and civic identity.
