The opening ceremony of the personal exhibition of the member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan Raigul Akhmetzhanova "Bird of Happiness" will be held on January 31 at 15.00 in the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is organized within the Library's "Cultural Code of Independence" project.
The exhibition will feature 30 works made of felt and cheegrass. The artist has been working with this technique for more than forty years and has created vivid works reflecting her worldview and creative preferences. Raigul Akhmetzhanova introduces new techniques: creates three-dimensional spatial forms, and compositional elements, using wood, ceramics, and felt in her works together with cheegrass.
The main creative direction of the master is a decorative and graphic genre in technology - cheegrass. Cheegrass weaving is a traditional artistic skill of Kazakh folk applied art, in which thin reed growing everywhere in the steppe is used as a creative material.
Many awards and titles mark the activity of R. Akhmetzhanova. Her works are kept in the collections of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and in private collections in Kazakhstan, the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Pakistan, and France.
The exhibition will be held in Astana, A. Bokeyhan str. 1A, the building of the Library of the First President of the RK.

For reference: Raigul Akhmetzhanova was born on February 18, 1955, in the village of Tuganbay, Talgar district, Almaty region. In 1980, she graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art named after S. G. Stroganov with a degree in industrial graphics. In 1985, she completed her studies in graphics at the Art Department of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. From 1980 to 1989, she worked as the Chief Artist of the publishing house of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, and a teacher of special disciplines at the Almaty Art College named after. U. Tansykbaeva. From 1994 to 1998, she was an artist-designer at the Dauir publishing house. The artist has been a member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2006. She was awarded the A. Kasteev medal "For high creative achievements" of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan (2015).
